The Games Workshop Contrast collection is a wonderful way to get started with miniature painting. The paints are not as thin as a shade but not as thick as what we would normally think of as a paint. The contrast paints are transparent and are meant to be applied over a lighter colored'basecoat' and will pool in your miniatures crevasses to make shadows on its own!

It really is a great way to get a simple but consistent paint job if you're not so interested in spending a ton of time painting! If you're a seasoned painter, these contrast paints are a powerful tool to expand your techniques. I regularly find myself testing the various contrast paints over all sorts of base layers, its thin enough to air-bush easily for a wonderfully rich accent to a base layer before applying all your intricate details. This set includes all complete set of the 34 Citadel Contrast Colors.
